A publisher should bring a book to the market quickly so that readers benefit immediately from the thoughts of their contemporaries, and also promotes the book unremittingly for the long term so that it reaches the widest audience.

A publisher should protect thinkers by allowing them to do what they do best, under the cover of anonymity, if they so wish, and by interacting with them in the way most conducive to the development of their art. Great ideas come first, commerce second, because without the idea there is no commerce.
